As a tool to enrich the scholastic lives of Madison College students, learner development along with Learner Success, an umbrella division which houses the college's instructional areas, including arts and sciences, biotechnology, agri-science, health centers and business and IT technologies, will be conducting a set of two student surveys in the near future in an effort to better serve the students of Madison College.
The surveys are being conducted to get a feel for how the college is serving its students. Both surveys will be administered to every student who is enrolled in at least one degree credit course, both part time and full time students, whether they are enrolled in a program or not.
The surveys will be conducted online. Students will receive invitations via e-mail, as long as they are registered in a degree-generating course.
The first of these surveys will be held in conjunction with EDUCAUSE, a nonprofit organization aimed at improving the use of technology in ways to serve the wide range of student needs.
As technology continues to expand and evolve, Madison College felt it would be worthwhile to be involved in the survey.
This first survey is technology based and the results of which will show how students are using technology. These results will be examined, and the information gathered will allow the college to address the technological needs of the students. The goal of the survey is to find how Madison College can utilize its use of technology to maximize the benefits for students.
This survey will be administered beginning on Feb. 23 and will run for the following two weeks.
The second survey, the student satisfaction inventory, which will be administered on April 12 and run to April 23, is a more general survey aimed to gauge the overall satisfaction the students have of the college. This survey covers many areas including instruction, advising, environment, and campus safety and security.
The student satisfaction inventory is normally conducted every other year. Even though it was conducted last year it is taking place again because of the growth in enrollment over the previous year.
