Ridiculous Refunds

It resides in the refund policy, aka the pink sheet near the enrollment center in case number "5" on the wall. As it states, students will receive 100 percent of the refund if the class is dropped prior to the class' start date, 80 percent refunded if dropped prior to 11 percent of total class meetings and so on.
This means that students need to drop the class even before attending in order to receive a full refund.
So, if a student has enrolled in and has paid for a class but decides to drop the class immediately after the first meeting, the student will only receive an 80 percent refund.
This refund policy still applies for students who have not paid their bill before the start of class. If these students drop the class after the start date, either attending that class or not, they will still owe 20 percent of the class fee. If that bill is not paid a hold will be placed on the student's account, which will make the student unable to register for other classes, apply for financial aid and so on.
Just to hit the message home, let's say a class cost is $330. The first class session would then have cost the student $66. Now, that may not seem extravagant, but to a poor college student, that equals the amount of groceries for a month. Plus, I have not obtained any life-altering knowledge to justify the cost.
I propose the first day of class be waived in an effort to accommodate students in this matter. After all, isn't the first day meant to help students decide to add or drop a class once they have learned more about the course and the instructor's methods? Isn't the point of having a waiting list to have students that can fill the open seats when someone drops a class?
So this is to you, Madison College. I want my $70 back. I feel that this is a reasonable request so send the check please, I'm hungry.

Well they should most certainly be getting the stated refunds that are rightfully theirs. Fight for that $70
