Helping Haiti at Madison College
Issue date: 1/27/10 Section: News
With two large earthquakes a little over a week apart, Haiti is still reeling from the devastation and loss. There are over 111,000 confirmed dead and with over 600,000 people homeless, the need for aid is as strong as ever. This disaster will take Haiti months, if not years, to recover from.
Not sure where to donate? To help aid the earthquake victims Madison Area Technical College has set up a donation box in the Truax Student Life office, room 140. All donations will go to the American Red Cross Badger and will be used to help fund the Haiti Relief and Development fund.
Checks should be addressed to American Red Cross, Badger Chapter and if "Haiti Relief" is written in the memo area the donation will be tax deductable.
In addition, there will be a panel discussion titled "Haiti: What's going on?" on Friday Jan. 29 in the Truax student lounge, room 140C. Everyone is welcome to attend.
