Final approval of the new logo is expected to come at the next board meeting on Nov. 11. At that time the logo will become official and it will be ready to go.
The MATC acronym is well known and is very established around the Madison area. There are many challenges now facing the school as they begin the process of integrating the new Madison College nickname and logo. So far the public response has been favorable.
"Madison College makes sense and it's easy to remember. We think that once we integrate the name into our printed materials and our billboards and once it starts showing up on our Web site that it will be an easy transition," she said.
While the new nickname is already being phased into use full integration is not expected in the near future. "Our goal would be to have a lot of things in place by next fall when students come back to school but we suspect a lot of things will take a little longer than that," Walleser added.
School merchandise, the Web site, e-mail and advertising are all in the process of changing with these changes occurring in phases over 18 months.
The nickname and logo change offer flexibility to the regional campuses as well. Each campus will have their own tag and flexibility in color. "Regional campuses have their unique locations and we just have to make sure that we give them the opportunity to promote themselves from their individual locations," said Walleser
No new costs will be associated with implementing the Madison College nickname into the school's advertising campaign. The new look will be integrated into the existing advertising budget and plans.

Great story and quite timely.
I think the new logo should have had a more prominent place in the copy though. A 250px X 250px image surrounded by text would have worked better to integrate the subject and its image. (Continued…)

Wasn't it just two or three issues ago that The Clarion ran a front-page story about the Board recommending our college "keep the Madison Area Technical College name?" How things change in 6-8 weeks. (Continued…)
