MATC wrapped up its regular season schedule on Feb. 4, as both the men's and the women's teams cruised to impressive victories over Fox Valley Technical College. The wins locked up a Wisconsin Technical College Conference championship for each of the two teams, as the women claimed their seventh consecutive WTCC title, and the men were crowned for the third time in four years.

Leading the way on the men's side was second year guard Justin Annen, as he blistered the nets for 20 points, including going 6-for-7 from beyond the arc. After leading by just two points at the half, the WolfPack put the defensive clamps on the Foxes en route to the 82-64 victory.

With the regular season now over, the men will focus on the upcoming postseason. Tourney time kicks off on Monday, Feb. 16, as the men will play host to a team that has yet to be determined in the opening round of the state playoffs. The second round will follow on Wednesday, Feb. 18, and MATC will host the WTCC State Tournament the following weekend.

While his team is currently sitting with a 15-7 record, Head Coach Scot Vesterdahl knows that improvements will need to be made in order to make serious post season run in hopes of meeting the team's ultimate goal, the NJCAA National Tournament. With a recent roster shake-up, the team is still getting acclimated to playing without three of their regular starters, due to injuries and various other extenuating circumstances.

Said Vesterdahl of the revamped lineup, "I think that we've competed well considering the changes that our team has gone through. We will have to continue to work our way through some things and improve our team defense, that will determine how the remainder of the season goes."

A vital component of the team's success will be the play of their three second-year players, guards Justin Annen and Ryan Schernecker, and forward Delmarius Steele. "I think that our three second year players have all elevated their play, they're playing more minutes and their production has improved. Both Justin and Delmarius are shooting over 50% from the 3-point line, which is excellent," said Vesterdahl. "And Ryan has stepped up his scoring while still distributing the ball."
