Soccer team wins WJCAA State Championship

With the win, MATC improved their record against in-state opponents to 6-1 this year, with their only loss coming to MATC-Milwaukee. Cooincidentally, their next game will be played against Milwaukee on Saturday, October 25, as they two teams will meet up for the NJCAA Regional Title game. The contest will be held at home at 12:00
The men's soccer team advanced to the WJCAA State Championship game with a 3-0 victory over UW-Rock County on Wednesday, October 15. Playing on their home field, MATC scored early and often on this rainy afternoon. Second year player Kelby Thomas scored twice in the opening period, while former Sun Prairie H.S. standout Dan Bednarczyk tallied his fourteenth goal of the season in the opening period as well. Neither team was able to score in the second half as the WolfPack recorded their third shutout of the season. MATC will play UW-Fox Valley for the WJCAA Championship on Sat., October 18, at Wittman Park in Menasha.
WolfPack fall in Overtime
MATC was the host team to Dakota County College. Dakota was up by a goal late in the second half until Nick Russell, a first year midfielder, scored to tie the game up at one a piece. The assist came from Nick Steffel to send the game in overtime.
It was Nick Russell's first goal of the year. Dakota was able to score the game-winning goal in the 112th minute to make the final score 2-1 Dakota County College.
WolfPack get shut out by Carthage
MATC traveled to Kenosha to take on the Red Men from Carthage College JV team. With a win over Milwaukee Area Technical College they were hoping to carry over that momentum against Kenosha. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case as the WolfPack lost a nail biter to the Red Men by a score of 1-0. The WolfPack with the loss has a record of 6-9.
MATC locks spot in Semifinals
The WolfPack took on Milwaukee Area Technical College on October 8 for a play-in game, with the winner advancing to the state semifinals. With tournament spot on the line the WolfPack knew that they had to win if they wanted to keep their season going a little bit longer. They did just that with a convincing win over Milwaukee by a score of four to one. Dan Bednarczyk had two goals on the day, and he also had an assist in the game. Leo Oseguera and Chris Jewett both chipped in a goal to make the final score 4-1. With Dan adding two more goals he now has 13 on the year, which leads the team. He also leads the team in assists with four. Goalie Tyler Smith had a good game by recording nine saves and only allowing one goal. MATC faced UW Fox Valley on October 15 in the WJCAA Championship game.
WolfPack fall to Kishwaukee 2-4
Kishwaukee Community College was the host team against the MATC WolfPack. It was a tough game for the WolfPack, as they lost to Kishwaukee by a score of two to four. Luis Crespo scored the first goal for the WolfPack the assist came from first year player Leo Oseguera. Luis has four goals on the year. With the loss the WolfPack now have a record of 5-8.
Close at half, but not enough
MATC was the host team as they took on their conference rival MATC Milwaukee. The WolfPack hoped to stay undefeated against in-state opponents, but MATC Milwaukee was determined to get a win. Going into intermission the WolfPack were down 2-1, as MATC Milwaukee got goals in the eleventh and fourteenth minute of the game. The WolfPack were able to respond with a goal in the sixteenth minute by Daniel Bednarczyk. The assist came from first year midfielder Austin Lehman. It was Daniel's tenth goal on the year. Goalie Tyler Smith, who has had a good season so far, having 61 saves and only allowing fourteen goals so far this season, had three saves but gave up all three of MATC Milwaukee goals. The final was MATC Milwaukee 3 MATC 1.
No contest for South Suburban
MATC was the host team as they squared off against South Suburban College (Il). Going in to the game the WolfPack had an even record of five wins and five losses. But as the game progressed it was evident that South Suburban was clearly the better team on the field, as they went on to win this game easily by a score of 6 to 2.
