On Wednesday, Oct. 22, Madison Area Technical College will be participating in their first Campus Sustainability Day, a six-year running nationwide event masterminded by the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) to stimulate dialogue on environmental
impact and sustainability between faculty, staff, and students.

It will be hosted by MATC Environmental Sustainability Association (MESA), a recent group comprised of faculty, staff and students, in effort to bring sustainability to MATC campuses. They will have two events planned, and a webcast will be presented by SCUP in collaboration with the New York Times.

At 11 am, events will start in the student lounge with instructor Ken Walz explaining his summer vacation experience; a peak behind-the-scenes at the United States premier renewable energy research facility.

At noon, Ali Dwyer will host a Winter Bike Clinic in the student lounge. Learn practical tips and hear true stories on biking 365 days a year, even through the fringed cold and snow.

At 1 pm, in the Administration Bldg Boardroom, MATC will be tuning
in with campuses around the country to a webcast celebrating sustainability. Andy Revkin, science editor of the New York Times, will moderate a discussion
of climate change and higher education.
