After having their proposal for a new parking lot at the Truax campus stalled by the city Plan Commission, Madison Area Technical College is back on track with a reworked proposal to be sent before the planning commission on April 12.

The doomsday approach to environmental sustainability may not be the best method of convincing people to waste less and conserve more. There is "a need for positive verbs," said Dr. Howard Frumkin while giving a lecture at University of Wisconsin-Madison. A lady in the audience argued his point, giving the example of showing smokers a picture of what their lungs look like and, in turn, them becoming smoke free.
In conjunction with National Library Week, the Madison Area Technical College library is sponsoring an essay contest. The theme of the essay contest asks students to explain how the library has impacted their learning experience at Madison College. The contest began on March 1 and will run through March 26.
STAFF REPORT Madison Area Technical College's student newspaper, The Clarion, received a number of state and regional awards at conventions during the weekend of Feb. 12-14. The staff received a first-place award for Best of Show in the Two-Year Newspaper category at the Associated Collegiate Press Best of the Midwest Newspaper Convention held in Minneapolis on Sunday, Feb.
Madison College student Maciek Smuga-Otto recently created a colorful library brochure in comic-style format for a class project. One of his main tag lines was "Books are Just the Beginning". Throughout the year over 500,000 students walk through the doors of our six libraries.
